Makes Everything Better |

I just set this up 2am last night. Pretty excited about it, actually. Here are some random observations: PACKAGING No advertisements, no "clamshell" packaging, no need for a boxcutter. Both routers are white and have a clean look to them. Instructions & backup CD right on top, everything labelled, personally signed. Very, very nice. QUICK SETUP After I set up PPPoE and configured my PC for DHCP my Local ISP internet came up great! STRONGVPN ON PC My PC is wired into my LOCALISP router, and is set up with DHCP, so my PC automatically has a local IP. However, if I set my PC's gateway to the STRONGVPN router (I use NetSetMan Pro do to this with a couple clicks), poof! I've got my US IP. WIRED DEVICES I've got some devices that I want a local IP (e.g. Vonage) and other devices I wanted to have a US IP (e.g. TiVo). I reconfigured any static IPs I had set for DHCP (much nicer) and plugged them into each router. I was initially concerned that all my devices had exactly the wrong connection (devices I wanted local had US IP's and vice versa). Duh, I had wired my devices all to the opposite router! Swapped the cables, refreshed, and they all worked great! STRONG WIRELESS I accidentally connected my Blackberry before I even put the antennas on the router, but it still connected great! BANDWIDTH Wish I had done some benchmarking of StrongVPN bandwidth before/after, but it's noticeably better. LESS LAG Absolutely less lag from my StrongVPN connection. And not just the VPN - everything's more responsive, even just surfing on my PC. Some of that might be due to the fact the routers are using Google's 8.8.8.8 DNS - it was a smart little detail. TIVO NETWORKING One of my original reasons to sign up with Strong VPN was that TiVo "broadband" services (shopping, downloading videos, etc.) won't work without a US IP. My old DLink allowed me to use Amazon Movies On Demand, etc., but as a practical matter it was too slow for me to actually use it. This setup gives a big boost. I didn't realize how much of the interface lag on my Series 2 TiVo was actually network lag imposed by router delay in serving up StrongVPN (whew!). The Asus RT-N16 is as fast as promised - my D-Link will never see a VPN again! The TiVo interface delay is now under my annoyance threshold, so all the broadband functionality of TiVo is now usable. TIVO DESKTOP & BONJOUR The documentation came with a warning about the Bonjour service may not being able to work when multiple gateways are available, as this solution provides. Unfortunately, the warning proved true. More unfortunately, the suggested fix of setting a static IP & gateway on my PC didn't fix the problem. Happily, TiVo allows for non-Bonjour discovery, and once I selected that in TiVo Desktop it worked fine. TiVo Desktop is now a lot faster and more responsive polling TiVo, which I put down to the faster Asus RT-N16. However, if I had iTunes, or Mac TV, etc. I would care a lot more about Bonjour not working. Sabai Technology offered to test the new version of the Bonjour service, which may provide a solution, but I'm satisfied for now. VONAGE Prior to this solution, I was forced to route my Vonage through StrongVPN (I had a catch-all single DHCP), and I was experiencing terrible quality. Now however, call clarity is excellent - better than before I had StrongVPN, so I think the faster router is making a difference. TORRENTS My STRONGVPN router has been optionally configured to filter and drop any bittorrent packets, which I LOVE. I once accidently ran uTorrent over StrongVPN and later received a DCMA notice. I don't ever want another one of those, and the filtering will keep me honest by making sure traffic is over my LOCALISP router. NAS Thinking about using the USB capability of the Asus RT-N16. Be great if I save myself the purchase of a NAS. Sabai Technologies warned that dd-wrt support of USB on the Asus RT-N16 is new and limited, but I'm sure it will come. CONCLUSION This product gives me dedicated StrongVPN connectivity, both wired and wireless. It also gives me dedicated local ISP connectivity. I just plug the cable into the right router, or connect to the right wireless network. No maintenance, no fuss. It all just works. I am very happy with this low-maintenance solution, as I don't want to continue to spend hours every so often tweaking a crashed network. Clearly this solution is not for Joe Six-Pack, or even the expat who just wants to see the occasional Hulu video. But for those who want a steady, feature-rich solution with quality components and knowledgeable support (thanks, William!), after your research you'll find you keep coming back to Sabai Technolgy's offering.

This is a great solution for you surfers. The only words I can say about this gateway are that it let you feel hopping between countries while you are on your desk. But I have some words about Support: I?ve been into online shopping longtime ago and my friends thought that I?m internet shopaholic. Believe me I never saw support like that of Sabai Technologies especially William. I emailed him several times before I purchased the Dual Gateway and he helped me pick up the right system for my case. During installation, I faced some difficulties so I emailed him and within minutes he was connected to my PC remotely showing me the exact steps of installation. This is the guy whom I wish all Internet companies have one like him. Keep up the good work.
