Asus RT-AC3200 VPN Router Setup

With the latest iteration of Sabai OS already installed, getting started with the RT-AC3200 couldn’t be simpler. We pride ourselves on making easy to use software for our advanced technology, so setting up a Sabai router doesn’t take long at all.

Getting started

To set up your Sabai OS powered Asus RT-AC3200 router:

1. Unplug your modem from the power supply

2. Connect your router to the modem via ethernet cable

3. Plug in your Asus RT-AC3200 router and modem to the power socket

4. Start up the modem and router

5. Open your web browser and type into the address bar: 192.168.199.1

6. Enter the password that came with your router

Gateways

Among the many features of Sabai OS is our unique Gateways technology that allows users to choose which devices connect over the local network, and which to the VPN. This can be quickly altered from within the dashboard, giving you total control over your network. Simply open the dashboard, select the Gateways tab, and choose which devices connect to which network.

This feature isn’t available on any other commercial or stock firmware, and would involve a lot of programming to achieve the same from on a DIY install.

From the Sabai OS dashboard, you can choose whether any device should connect to the regular internet, VPN, or a VPN Accelerator. This means that you can be connected to two networks at the same time, through a single router.

Asus RT-AC3200 optimized by Sabai OS

The Sabai Technology Asus RT-AC3200 router looks the same as the basic model purchased elsewhere, but under the hood it’s quite different. We’ve installed our own firmware, especially designed to work perfectly with a VPN.

Most VPN setups people use at home are simple VPN software installed on a computer or smartphone, that allows that single device to connect to the VPN server. With a VPN router, you get to connect your router to the VPN, so everything connecting to the internet through that router goes through the VPN connection. This is awesome for people who want to keep their home network private and secure, as the VPN provider used strong encryption to make sure all your network connections are private.

In addition to increased privacy, a VPN allows you to mask your actual location by connecting to an overseas server through a VPN tunnel, making it appear as though you’re physically in that location. This means you can be watching UK BBC iPlayer from the USA, or sports matches shown live from Canada.

Add to this our Gateways technology, and you can actually have two devices connecting to two different servers, where one is your normal home internet, and the other your VPN connection.
