The Asus RT-N66U VPN Router powered by Sabai OS combines dual-band Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet, and router-level VPN connectivity in a reliable option for homes with multiple connected devices. With simultaneous 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless, up to 900 Mbps combined wireless speeds, external antennas, and four Gigabit LAN ports, the RT-N66U is well suited for streaming, gaming, everyday browsing, and network file sharing.
Your Asus RT-N66U arrives with Sabai OS installed and ready for setup. Sabai OS is our VPN-focused router firmware designed to make VPN and network management accessible through an easy-to-use browser-based dashboard.
With a compatible VPN configured on the router, connected devices can use the VPN without requiring separate VPN software on each device. This is especially useful for smart TVs, streaming devices, game consoles, and other devices that may not support VPN applications directly.
Sabai OS also includes Gateways, which allows you to choose whether individual devices use your VPN connection or your regular local internet connection.

Asus RT-N66U VPN Router Setup
Your Asus RT-N66U arrives with Sabai OS already installed, so there is no need to flash or install the router firmware yourself. Basic network and VPN setup can be completed through the Sabai OS browser-based interface.
To get started:
- Unplug your modem from power.
- Connect the Asus RT-N66U to your modem using an Ethernet cable.
- Connect power to your Asus RT-N66U.
- Restore power to your modem and allow both devices to start.
- Connect your computer or device to the RT-N66U.
- Open a web browser and go to 192.168.199.1.
- Enter the login information provided with your router.

Sabai OS Gateways
Sabai OS Gateways gives you control over which devices on your network use your VPN connection and which use your regular local internet connection.
For example, you can assign a smart TV or streaming device to your VPN while allowing a computer, phone, or game console to continue using your regular internet connection. Device assignments can be managed directly from the Sabai OS dashboard and saved for future use.
The RT-N66U can also be used with a compatible VPN Accelerator, allowing supported devices to be assigned to the VPN Accelerator through Gateways for dedicated VPN processing.
Whole-Network VPN Connectivity
Configuring a compatible VPN connection at the router level allows devices throughout your network to access the VPN without installing and configuring separate VPN software on every device.
This is particularly useful for devices that may not support traditional VPN applications, including smart TVs, streaming devices, game consoles, and other connected devices.
Instead of managing individual VPN applications across multiple devices, the Asus RT-N66U with Sabai OS provides centralized VPN and network management from the router's browser-based dashboard.
Dual-Band Wi-Fi & Gigabit Ethernet
The Asus RT-N66U provides simultaneous 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless connectivity, allowing compatible devices to connect to the wireless band that best fits their needs. Three external antennas and built-in Wi-Fi amplifiers help provide strong wireless coverage throughout your home.
For devices where speed and connection stability are especially important, four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports provide fast wired connectivity for computers, smart TVs, streaming devices, game consoles, network storage, and other Ethernet-enabled devices.

Some streaming services, websites, applications, and other online services attempt to detect and block VPN traffic. If your VPN connects successfully and displays the VPN server's IP address, the VPN connection is functioning correctly. However, compatibility with any specific streaming service, website, application, or online content cannot be guaranteed.

Good product with room for improvement
The router works well after a whole day of fruitless effort and very efficient help from Ruth. Sabai OS is sold for more than the price of the router. I'm a bit disappointed for two reasons. First, documentation is lacking, pretending that it's plug-and-play. Clearly, it's not (at least not always). There is no help available for troubleshooting. Second, I'm baffled that an OS developed with security in mind sends the router password uncrypted over the WiFi connection.

Very professional service from SabaiTech, very quick shipping and nice sturdy package. Received my order as expected. I had configured routers with stock router os and dd-wrt, so did not know what to expect from SabaiOS. But to my surprise, SabaiOS worked like a charm, was able to configured it very easily in 5 mins with HMA VPN. To receive a card along with the package which mentions who tested the router and when is very professional of you. Router is very good and working nicely as per my expectations. Able to get good speed which I did not get with other routers. Wifi coverage is very good. You get 3 removable antennas to extend your wifi coverage. WOW experience in 1 word. I am a fan of SabaiOS and SabaiTech now. Would love to do more business with you guys. The adapter comes with US standard plugs, so you need to get a universal connector to use it.
